Slap!
Straight to the face
I awaken
No one hit me.
It just feels like it.
Every time we argue
Every time you say “I hate you”
My body records the injury
That wound burns the fire of distress a little hotter
Until… it explodes
All over us.
My sense of self forgotten
The hurt and pain pronounced.
Nothing stops the raging fire
Except to get it all out.
But…
I don’t want it to be this way.
Broken pieces everywhere.
My quest for self healing begins afresh
For I don’t want to live this way.
I don’t know how much time I have
I can’t say it won’t happen again.
Awareness has made me know, much work is still awaiting me.
The work,
I must continue.
Till the fire of anger is cooled
And the spark of hope
Ignites.
